The Camino

What is the Camino and why are you doing it?

Those are two common questions asked when people find out that we're going to Spain this summer.

First, a bit about the Camino from this website:   www.caminodesantiago.me.uk
The Camino de Santiago de Compostela, also known in English as The Way of St James, is a collection of old pilgrimage routes which cover all Europe. They all have Santiago de Compostela in north west Spain as their final destination. For more than 1000 years pilgrims have been walking along the Camino de Santiago.
There are many reasons that I've wanted to do the Camino pilgrimage. Yes, it is an adventurous "road trip" to end all road trips with my siblings. Also, the draw of pilgrimage has been on my heart for a long time. I look at the experience as a time for adventure, reflection and contemplation...a mobile retreat so to speak where our prayer time is intertwined with the walking and the quite times as well as the time in community and with other pilgrims.

You all will be in our thoughts and prayers as we walk on the pilgrimage. God bless!
